Josh Falconer:
“Starting university, I had no clear career path in mind. That quickly changed when I got involved with the university radio station. The station manager encouraged me to join the committee, and I took over the station’s social media. During my degree, I completed internships and work experience, which led to my first career job as a social media manager at the start of my final year. Because of the work experience I completed during the course, I secured a job at a creative agency after graduating, where I use and build on the skills I developed at university every day.”
Sean Maxwell:
“I came to Solent in 2020 and graduated three years later with a BA (Hons) in Media Production. Throughout my studies, I absorbed myself into audio production with a focus on live events. Whilst I was still a student I started working for Silent Disco King, going to events and working in their warehouse. After I finished my degree, I started working for Silent Disco King full time. My main responsibilities involved stage management at music festivals and going to conferences to work as a tech assistant. Outside of festival the season I manage the tech/ equipment at the main warehouse.”
Lucía Vázquez Bonome:
“I am a media and communications professional with a decade of experience in internal and external communications, social media, blogging and editorial relations. I have worked at Solent University as a freelance writer and research assistant and I also have gained experience in publishing, editorial and marketing after working for companies in England and Spain. I currently am working as a Digital Education Creator at University Hospital Southampton NHS where I create and manage digital training and education for the Medical Physics department.”
Luke Small:
“I’m Luke Small, a freelance videographer and the founder of Dion Media. I studied BA Media Production and MA Film Production at Solent University, where I honed my skills in visual storytelling and media production. During my time there, I achieved several milestones, including winning Best Marketing Project 2023, securing a videographer internship, and working at some of the UK’s biggest events. These experiences, along with the technical skills I’ve developed, have allowed me to shape my personal brand into a successful business—one that has secured start-up funding and continues to grow.”
